Veterans Court

The first Federal Veterans Court Program began April 2010, in the District of Utah by the Honorable Paul M. Warner, U.S. Magistrate Judge. The participants appear either by citation, on pretrial release, or post-conviction supervision. With critical support from the Veteran's Administration's (VA) Veterans Justice Outreach (VJO) coordinator, along with the U.S. Attorney's Office, the federal public defender, and the U.S. Probation Office, this program connects justice-involved veterans with services in a collaborative model designed to address the root causes of criminal conduct. Veterans Treatment Courts ensure veterans are linked to the programs and benefits they have earned and fosters camaraderie from fellow veterans. The VJO appears in court, assists with treatment appointments, provides access to medical records and communicates this information to the court.  For additional information about the Federal Veterans Court program, please contact U.S. Probation Officer Meriska Holt at 801-535-2817.  This program is specifically for persons who have been charged in the Federal System only.  If your case/charges are out of the city, county or state system, please contact Jessica Mann, Veterans Court Coordinator at 801-582-1565 x 6337.
